Challenge Creates Change

This week has been a challenge to say the least! Our topic was “The Nature and Character of God” and like usual, it was nothing like I was expecting. If I had to compare it to something, it would probably be being told your whole life it’s illegal to drive with your interior lights on only to find out it’s actually not- confused, slightly angry and #mindblown.

Our speakers name was Steve and he’s been involved with YWAM for about 40 years. He challenged everyone’s way of thinking to make us question what we really thought and why we thought it. Was it because it’s what our parents told us? Or because we had real biblical backing? Whatever it was, it was challenged.

The biggest challenge I was presented with was the idea of a “Sequential God”. This means God doesn’t have a set future or present and he doesn’t know exactly when everything is going to happen. This concept made me really quite mad at first. “How could someone think God doesn’t know everything?! He is All Knowing!” but the more I thought about it, the more it occurred to me this concept wasn’t completely wrong. After all, why would God get angry if he already knew what was going to happen or why would he ever react at all? With this said, I think it would be naive to place God in 1 of 2 categories because He is so much bigger than our human minds will ever be able to comprehend. But in the end, it really doesn’t matter. Will knowing how God operates affect how I live my life? NO. We should choose to walk out our lives in the plan God has for us because we choose to, not because we feel obligated.

Another point I took away from the week was that God values our opinions and involves us in his plans. An example of this is in Genesis 18 where God is going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah and decides to tell Abraham His plans. This is where Abraham changes the conditions of destroying the city. Genesis 18:17 Then the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?”. The Lord did not choose to hide it but chose to involve Abraham. Isn’t that just SO cool?! Anyway, there are a lot of examples so you should totally have a look and not just take my word for it 😉

The rest of the week was pretty good so here are some of the highlights:

  • The usual Wednesday family night
  • Gelato at the beach to celebrate Jeff’s birthday
  • Everyone being split up to have dinner at different leaders houses
  • WORSHIP. WAS. SO. GREAT. THIS. WEEK! It was so powerful and the songs were just really encouraging for the week #muchwow
  • Busking as my connect night. We made over $100 in under 2 hours and played “Lean on Me” pretty much on repeat hahaha.

My biggest highlight of the week was definitely receiving a care package from home! I received a t-shirt, some photos, posters, a daily devotion, m’n’m’s and a card. (See photo below).

Another point I need to mention! I need to have the rest of my finances in this week which is $1050 so if you feel like the Lord is pressing on your heart to help send me to PNG (Papua New Guinea), feel free to message me on Facebook or email me ( and I’ll send through my bank details!

  • Teachability in the new topic
  • Grace upon grace upon grace
  • Walk in God’s plans
  • Have finances in

Much love,

Taylah xx

P.s. Like always, I would love to receive any letter/ photos etc so if you want to send me anything here is the details!
